"My audience on Twitter is different then yours." This was a statement made by my PR team for my job. One of the PR managers insisted that the press were different audiences then everyone else; and that the PR team needed a separate Twitter handle for press announcements.
The reply: my colleague combed through our followers and pulled out several key press contacts. If we were to have separate, and in some ways, competing feeds then where would our final end user whether it's a customer, reporter or follower go for information? So rather than forcing our end audience to pick through multiple channels, we all agreed on a compromise to allow the PR manager to Tweet from our handle...out to our 10,000+ followers when she needed to make major press announcements.
So far...she's used it 0 times. And yes, that is not a typo...it's a zero.
