So I found Facebook--and through the magic of the Internet I've found classmates from many of the ten different schools I attended. Yes, I said ten. 10! And just because I listed them to count them for this introductory paragraph here they are in chronological order:
- First Presbyterian Kindergarten, Hinesville, GA
- Bacon Primary School, Hinesville, GA
- Jewell Elementary School, Aurora, CO
- Woodman Valley Elementary School, Colorado Springs, CO
- Foothills Elementary School, Colorado Springs, CO
- Eisenhower Elementary School, Fort Leavenworth, KS
- Wiesbaden American Middle School, Wiesbaden, Germany
- H. H. Arnold High School, Wiesbaden, Germany
- Air Academy High School, Colorado Springs, CO
- Vilseck American High School, Vilseck, Germany
That's why I'm such an odd duck--by the time I was 17 (when I graduated) I'd already moved six times in twelve years switching schools ten times. Done. No need for continued therapy, I'm quite content with the facts on how I got to be who I am.
What's interesting about moving so frequently is that I missed out on being a part of any one experience--I'm watching my classmates post photos from trips and school events. I expect to be in the picture or at least remember the place, time, event...but I don't. I'm not even sure which reunion I should attend or can I attend all three.
I'm not lamenting my childhood--great times, but it would be nice to have been one place long enough to show up in a few photos.
